The Washington Post is reporting that an American service member has died and one other injured due to an improvised explosive device (IED) in Helmand province, Afghanistan. A large part of Helmand province has been taken by the Taliban this summer fighting season and U.S. special operations and conventional troops have been rushed into the province to shore up the Afghan security forces in the ‘Train, Advise, and Assist” mission.
